Children & Families

The YWCA of Calgary believes that healthy children and healthy families are the foundations for a great city.

Children exposed to family violence, poverty, homelessness or other negative life situations can suffer from a variety of reactions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, sleep disorders, separation anxiety, aggression or withdrawal.

Without appropriate supports and a stable home life, these children are also at greater risk for drug use, violence and crime.

Early intervention is the key. The YWCA of Calgary helps children and families build positive relationships, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing. Through our outreach and innovative programs, we encourage families to grow and heal together — and to strive for better communication, parenting and problem solving in times of crisis and conflict.
