English for New Canadians

The YWCA of Calgary believes in providing language instruction to all new Canadians, even if they can’t afford it.

The YWCA of Calgary's English for New Canadians (ENC) classes focus on the needs of new Canadians, providing them with the language skills and cultural knowledge to get by on a daily basis in our community.

Calgary Learns and the United Way of Calgary provide partial funding for this program to allow adult learners facing economic barriers to access affordable ESL classes.

The newest classes being offered are Computer Literacy clasess, Beginner and Intermediate (with an ESL component in level 2).

ENC classes are available at the downtown YWCA site as well as at the Calgary Jewish Seniors Residence (in partnership with Jewish Family Service Calgary).
