Thousands of lives have been changed through the YWCA’s domestic violence programming.

 

2010 Snapshot

In 2010, the YWCA of Calgary:

* Sheltered 766 women and children (351 women and 405 children) fleeing family violence

* Served 3,235 women, children and men through integrated and specialized family violence programs

* Responded to 1,702 calls on our 24-hour crisis line and 1,866 information calls regarding all YWCA family violence programs

* Provided group counselling to 930 men and women wanting to break the cycle of violence

* Helped 3, 384 children through shelter and community-based programs

* Provided family outreach counselling to 208 women and their families

* Facilitated 553 supervised visits with parents and children and monitored 66 exchanges through our Visitation Services Programs

* Touched the lives of 61 children who attended YWCA Children and Youth Art Therapy programs

* The YWCA Sheriff King Home turned away 1,434 women and 476 children in 2010 because of lack of resources
